Bryan Hearstone

Bryan Heartstone worked diligently in his parents large garden.  Weeding crops, dropping fertilizer, and watering wherever the ground looked dry, he would work for hours each day.  He had lived on his parents farm for twelve years now, since he was born, and farming was all he knew.  He could milk a cow faster than any of his friends, gather eggs, butcher any animal, and keep the crops growing during droughts.  Bryan knew that one day he would inherit the farm and take a wife, so he would make sure that the farm was the best, most thriving farm by the time he was old enough to take over.  Already at age twelve he was daydreaming of the day when he would begin to add onto the small farmhouse.  He wiped the sweat from his eyes and stared off into the horizon.  Off in the distance he could see something coming.  He ran inside and told his parents who spread the word throughout the town.  By the time the soldiers on their armored horses arrived everyone was waiting.  After the soldiers were done talking to everyone over half the boys were returning with them to the king's palace without any choice including Bryan.
